Let’s face it, washing machines aren’t the cheapest thing you will ever buy. And they get more and more expensive the more special features you have included with them. Fuzzy logic is a brilliant advancement, but you will pay more for the privilege of having it.
So what is best? Should you buy a bargain, or should you bite the bullet and get something that is far more advanced to last you into the future?
There is a common belief that no cheap appliance is going to last you very long at all. This can be true to an extent, but it would be unfair to assume that all cheap washing machines are bad quality. They have to be of good quality to be put on sale at all!
But you need to be a bit careful with bargains. If you are determined to spend as little as possible because you have a tight budget, think about how cheap you should go. For example, you might be tempted to look on eBay or a similar auction site to find a low priced machine. But while many of these sales go ahead with no problems at all, there are pitfalls to watch out for.
You need to be sure of whether you are buying a brand new machine for starters. This goes with all websites, not just auction focused ones. You can get reconditioned ones on some sites, for example. These are usually in perfect working order but they may have been repaired by qualified personnel before being offered for sale. You might even find these on reputable websites with big name companies behind them.
Always be sure to look for information which tells you whether the machine is brand new, reconditioned or anything else. Sometimes a customer may return an item that is in perfect working order, simply because it wasn’t what they thought it would be. This can apply just as much to big appliances such as washing machines as it can to small mail order items! It might sound strange but it does happen.
The basic rule is that bargain washing machines can be a good buy. It just depends on where you get them from – and why they are a bargain. For example, some manufacturers will sell off end of the range washing machines at a much lower price. They do this to make way for their new ones. Watch out for these deals, either on well known websites or direct from the manufacturers’ websites themselves. You might be surprised by how much money you can save on what is still a brand new appliance.
If you decide to get a second hand one, make sure the source is reputable. Someone you know is the best source. If you are in any doubt at all, it is usually best to follow your instincts. This will ensure you are safe and you get a washing machine that will still do the job perfectly well – for many years to come.
