Unless you are lucky enough to already have the top washing machine currently on the market, you will probably have moments when you wish you had a better one.
But is it really worth spending hundreds of pounds on a souped up model when you can get a bargain deal for perhaps a couple of hundred pounds?
The answer depends on what you want for your money. Obviously the more you pay, the better the washing machine you will get. You just need to consider which functions and features you would like the most – and whether they will really come in handy for you.
So – where do you start? The best thing is to consider how often you use your washing machine first of all. This largely depends on how many people live in your home. If you live alone then you won’t use it as much as a family of four with young children would. In this case it would probably be used virtually every day.
The more you are going to use your machine the more robust you want it to be. So in that case it would pay you to get the best one you can afford. Budget is of course a very important factor to keep in mind, so make sure you decide on what you can afford before you start looking for your ideal washing machine. If you don’t you are much more likely to spend more than you intended to.
The next step is to think about the clothes you have. No, this isn’t a fashion lesson – it is simply a way of considering whether any specialist programmes on the washing machine will be good for you. For example some Siemens washing machines have textile guard programmes on them. Others have programmes that take good care of wool, while more still have programmes that get rid of bacteria and so on – which apparently is perfect for baby clothes.
What you need to watch out for is the programmes becoming too complicated and overwhelming. One washing machine has one specific combination of programmes, buttons and so on, while another one is completely different. Do you want that super quick wash time, or would you prefer another programme that might be more useful?
In the end every washing machine is geared up to appeal to specific people. You just need to figure out which one is geared up to your needs. You probably won’t be able to find the ideal one that has everything you need – there might even be one or two programmes you don’t want among all the ones you do. But the trick is to find the best combination of programmes on the best value for money machine.
Of course if there is nothing wrong with the washing machine you have, you may want to see it out to the bitter end and then get a new one. It is certainly better for the environment if you do, rather than wasting an appliance that still works.
