How Often Do You Use Your Washing Machine?

Tuesday January 12, 2010

This might sound like an odd question, but the answer could influence which new washing machine you buy in the future.

For example, if you live alone you will naturally have a lot less washing than a large family with several children. As such you won’t need to focus your search for a new machine on the ones which have larger drums. The only exception to this could be if you own lots of blankets or duvets that need washing in a bigger drum.

If your household generates a lot of washing however, you will be grateful of that larger drum. It will cut down on the number of loads you have to complete and it could make life a lot easier in the process.

If you do use your washing machine quite heavily you will want to think about buying the best washing machine you can. This doesn’t necessarily mean you will need to buy the most expensive one though; you should always consider your budget first to make sure you don’t spend more than you can afford to. It simply means researching all the different kinds of washing machines you can get and finding out which one will suit your needs the best.

You also need to bear in mind your usage of your machine when it comes to keeping it in good working order. The most important part of doing this is emptying the filter that comes with it. This is where all the bits and pieces from the wash go to – such as odd bits of cotton or lint for example. Over time this gets clogged up and can cause a problem if you don’t clean it out regularly.

If you don’t use your washing machine very much you won’t need to clean it out very often. So if you do perhaps a couple of loads every weekend just check the filter now and again to make sure it is okay. If you do some washing virtually every day though you will have to clean it out more regularly. Get into the habit of checking it and getting used to how long you can leave it between cleans.

As you can see, that question of how often you use your machine isn’t that strange after all. It could help you choose the right machine for you and keep it in good working order for longer as well.
